Dear Neighbor,

Great news! Norwalk was one of the 46 school districts in Connecticut that will receive state funding to build and expand high dosage tutoring for our students. Norwalk Public Schools has been allocated $278,200 for their program.

High-Dosage Tutoring (HDT) is a well-researched strategy to address learning loss, ensuring students have intensive, curriculum-aligned support to close academic gaps.

In total, the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) is releasing $11.5 million to 46 school districts for this program. I am thrilled that our students will be provided the help they need to succeed in their education.

Norwalk Neighborhood to Receive $5.1 Million Grant to Address Flooding

I was proud to stand with a second generation homeowner of Heather Lane, my legislative colleagues, and and local officials to announce that an East Norwalk neighborhood in our district is receiving a $5.1 million grant to address flooding.

Residents on Heather Lane have expressed their concern about the recurring flooding that has been a constant threat with every large storm and has lead to significant property damage over the years.

Thanks to the leadership of Sen. Duff, and with gratitude to the CIF Board and the Governor's Office, this funding will enable the residents of the Lockwood/Heather Lane neighborhood to have a greater quality of life once these much-needed storm drain and sewer system upgrades are complete. Reducing the frequent flooding these Norwalkers experience will protect their homes and streets, and these critical investments to rebuild and improve this infrastructure will give great returns for future generations so they can continue to thrive in their neighborhood, especially as rainfall becomes increasingly unpredictable.

Wolfpit Students Visit the Capitol
It was wonderful to meet with a group of 5th graders from the Wolfpit School who toured the state capitol last week.

They asked phenomenal questions about our state government and what it is like to work in public service. I loved showing them the desk where I get to sit in the House chamber and share my mic with them there. I also attended the Wolfpit Pumpkin Fest last weekend and found a fantastic pumpkin to take home - thank you to the Wolfpit pack!

Veterans’ and Military Affairs Committee Informational Public Hearing

Please see the flyer below for any additional questions.

I hope you are having a good week and you and your family are enjoying this beautiful Fall weather. Have a safe Halloween weekend, everyone!

Sincerely,
