Budget Town Halls

June 19, 2017

The legislature's regular session ended on June 7th, but there's still plenty of work ahead of us. Within the next couple weeks, we'll be heading back for a special session to pass a state budget. That's why I need to hear from you at the Budget Town Halls I'm holding in-district.

It's critical that the legislature passes a budget before the end of the fiscal year on June 30th. Otherwise, starting July 1st Governor Malloy gets to run the state through month-by-month continuing resolutions.

We know what that will look like - the Governor's budget contains deep cuts to Cheshire, Southington, and Wallingford. Having the Governor make budgeting decisions by executive order is not in the best interests of our towns or our state. To learn more, read my recent op-ed in the Meriden Record-Journal.

I need to hear your input: what are your priorities for a state budget?
