Bill To Help Prevent Homelessness PassedJune 2, 2019
I want to thank my colleagues in the House of Representatives for their bipartisan vote to approve legislation I introduced in the Housing Committee that will help prevent homelessness in our state.
I asked for their support of HB 7068, and they came through for the people in Connecticut who are struggling to keep a roof over their head.
The bill allows for the use of existing housing assistance bonding for payment of administrative costs and maintenance expenses. In exchange, landlords must abate rents for a designated period and waive security deposits for renters. The bill allows the Department of Housing to provide better service for the people who need it most.
