Scholarship Opportunity for Black & Latino Students

March 22, 2018

As Vice Chair of the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus, one of my goals is helping students of color succeed in school. The Caucus is proud to offer our annual Representative Wilfred x. “Spike” Johnson scholarship to college-bound Black and Latino high school seniors and current college students.

Check out the video below to learn more about this scholarship:

Wilfred Johnson, also known as Spike, was the first African American elected to Connecticut’s State House of Representatives. He opened doors for all of the CT legislators of color who followed him, and we honor his memory by helping students of color achieve their goals.

We’re now accepting applications for the 2018 scholarship awards. All applications must be sent to my office by Monday, April 2.

Do you know a student who would benefit from this scholarship? Please help spread the word!
