Urging Our Students To Reach For The Sky

September 4, 2019

Now that school is open again in Hartford, I want to express my hopes and wishes for a productive and successful school year.

Last week, I joined my Calling All Brothers colleagues, and my fraternity, the Beta Sigma Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, on the opening day of school – greeting students, parents and teachers as they arrived at the Milner and MLK middle schools, Rawson Elementary and the newly renovated Weaver High.

It was an uplifting experience for me to be there as students arrived for the first day of class. I believe students have a greater chance for academic achievement when they know there’s a support system in place. That’s why we gave students high-fives and words of encouragement as they headed into school.

I hope your student (or students) have a great school year.
