Updates from State Rep. Nick Menapace for July 28, 2026
July 28, 2026
Last week I joined Governor Lamont, fellow legislators, and members of the Connecticut Tenants Union to demand that Alpha Capital come to the table and negotiate in good faith.
Bay Point in Niantic has seen residents with no heat in winter, refusal to fix problems, and threats of eviction since Alpha took over in 2024. They've tried to raise rents by $900 a month and have disregards all attempts by the residents to meet.
And Bay Point isn't alone. Tenants at Alpha properties in New London, Middletown, and Meriden face the same tactics—harassment, eviction notices, and broken conditions. Alpha's CEO refuses to meet with them.
Alpha Capital: come to the table. Negotiate in good faith. Treat your tenants with dignity.
Earlier this week, I had the honor of presenting a citation from the Connecticut General Assembly to Dylan Russo at his Eagle Scout Court of Honor.
As an Eagle Scout myself, these ceremonies are always special. Dylan's project—restoring the front of the American Legion Post 128 hall—included installing a raised garden bed, replacing deck boards, and painting. A true service to our community.
I had the honor of being at Mohegan Church for the return of documents and artifacts from the State of Connecticut to the Mohegan Tribe.
It was a powerful ceremony—a recognition of history, sovereignty, and the importance of returning what was never rightfully taken.
I was joined by fellow legislators, Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas, State Treasurer Erick Russell, members of the Connecticut State Historical Society, and Mohegan tribal leaders.
A special moment to be there with my friend and neighbor, former U.S. Treasurer and Mohegan Tribal Chief Mutáwi Mutáhash (Many Hearts) Lynn Malerba. Grateful to witness this step toward healing and respect.
At Celebrate East Lyme with some incredible leaders who support our work in the 37th District.
Congressman Joe Courtney, Senator Richard Blumenthal, Governor Ned Lamont, Senator Martha Marx, all have been partners in moving Connecticut forward. Grateful for their support, their friendship, and their shared commitment to our community.
