November Election FAQ sheet

I don't need to tell you about the importance of the upcoming presidential election but I do want to make sure you have all the facts about the big day - November 3, 2020 - specifically absentee balloting.

From questions on whether it's too early to apply for an absentee ballot to knowing if it was received I am providing what I believe is a very good FAQ sheet from the Stamford Town Clerks's office to help you.

Is it too early to apply for an AB ballot?

All voters will receive an AB application automatically by mid-September. If you’d prefer, you can send in an application now. The link is here.

Please don’t send in more than one application.

Where can I return the Application for an AB ballot?

  • There are two ballot drop boxes. One in the parking garage in the Government Center. The other next to the book-return in front of the Harry Bennett Library (Vine Road).
  • Mail to:
    Town Clerk – AB Application
    888 Washington Blvd., 1st FL
    Stamford, CT 06901
  • Electronic copies are not accepted as per Connecticut Law.

When will I get my ballot?

The ballots will be sent out starting October 3rd.

Where can I return the Ballot?

What’s the last time to drop off my ballot?

  • The final collection of ballots from the Ballot Drop Boxes is 8pm on Election Day.
  • Allow more time if you use the postal services.

Can I vote at the Polls?

Yes, the polling stations will be open from 6am to 8pm. Verify your polling station here.

How do I know if my application was received?

Due to volume we aren’t able to track individual requests. Please understand that we do all we can to carefully and expeditiously process all applications and ballots; all other tasks will have to be put aside during these unprecedented times.

Can I get an AB ballot at my college or in my second residence?

Yes. Print your mailing address legibly to ensure total accuracy. Allow additional time for your ballot to arrive by November 3rd.

What if I applied for an AB ballot at my college, but my college is cancelled and I’ve returned to my home?

Notify the Town Clerk’s office townclerk@stamfordct.gov to change your mailing address back to your home address. Put “Change of Address” in your subject line.

What if I am in a foreign country and won’t be able to return home in time to vote?

You can submit a FPCA to request an AB application from abroad. The forms are here.
