East Hartford HAT Survey
The East Hartford Hunger Action Team has created a survey to determine the needs of East Hartford residents. The results will help determine future HAT projects.

This is a collaboration of HAT Members including East Hartford Youth Services, East Hartford CONNects, American Eagle Financial Credit Union, UConn Department of Nutritional Sciences, ShopRite, East Hartford Public Library, and others.
East Hartford residents who complete the survey are eligible to win a $25 grocery store gift card.

Foodshare’s food distribution at Rentschler Field
Foodshare’s food distribution at Rentschler Field will continue into December. There is one  remaining distribution in November on Wednesday, November 25. The schedule for December will be two  days a week – Tuesdays and Thursdays through December 22. Food will be distributed from 8:30 am to 12 pm.

Apply for a Mini-Grant from East Hartford Youth Services
The East Hartford Youth Services Division is accepting proposals for mini-grants of up to $1,200 per application to East Hartford community groups that are either led by or intended to benefit youths, ages 11-18 in East Hartford.
Qualifying organizations/groups must plan to facilitate a project or program which fulfills 1 of 3 categories:

  1. Out of School Time i.e. before or after school initiatives
  2.  Positive Youth Development programming
  3.  Service Learning Initiatives.

Applications must be completed and received  no later than 4:00 pm, December 15st, 2020.  Click here to apply. 

East Hartford is also accepting proposals for its "A Kindness Grant". The department will award $250.00 to those who wish to spread kindness and goodwill throughout the East Hartford Community.

These grants are only available to East Hartford residents between the ages of 11-18. The application deadline is January 1, 2021. Click here to apply. 

COVID Testing Events in East Hartford
There are  several COVID testing events in the community:

  • Community Health Center at Rentschler Field, 615 Silver Lane; Monday-Friday – No appointment needed – All tested – register in advance by calling 475-241-0740
  •  Walgreens, East Hartford, 922 Silver Lane – Appointments necessary online – limits on testing capacity – individuals with symptoms a priority – online screening REQUIRED
  • CVS Pharmacy, 972 Silver Lane, East Hartford – Appointments necessary online – limits on testing availability – 12 or older
  • InterCommunity Pop-Up Testing Event – 68 Silver Lane, Rochambeau Apartments – All ages, all individuals, Thursday, November 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • First Choice Health Centers – 94 Connecticut Boulevard – Requires appointment, call 869-528-1359 – all populations including health care workers and first responders welcome
