Napoli begins second term in State House in leadership roles

January 6, 2021

Napoli has been named vice chair of the legislature's Veterans' Affairs Committee by House Speaker-elect Matt Ritter and named Assistant Majority Leader by Majority Leader-elect Jason Rojas.

"Ron's record on the Veterans' committee demonstrates his deep commitment to Connecticut's military service members," Speaker Ritter said. "As Ron takes on the vice chair leadership role I look forward to working with him to ensure our veterans receive the support they deserve for their patriotic service."

"I am honored and thankful for the opportunity to serve our state's veterans and active service members as vice chair of the Veterans' Committee," Napoli said. "Connecticut's military staff is a dedicated group always willing to sacrifice so much for the safety of our state and nation. I am excited to get to work on legislation that improves their lives."

As vice chair, Napoli will work closely with the chairs on important legislation related to veterans. He will also lead the committee in the absence of the House chair.

"I had the opportunity to work with Rep. Napoli on increasing reimbursement to the City of Waterbury for tax-exempt manufacturing equipment which increased funding to Waterbury of almost $400,000," said Majority Leader Rojas. "Rep. Napoli is an independent voice for his Waterbury constituents and will work hard to make their lives better. We have a strong working relationship and I look forward to continuing to work with him as he assumes this new leadership role."

"I am honored for the opportunity to work alongside the Majority Leader and Speaker in the upcoming General Assembly and I thank both for their confidence in me," said Rep. Napoli. "I look forward to getting to work this session to advocate for people and small businesses across Connecticut, especially during these extraordinary times."

As Assistant Majority Leader, Rep. Napoli will work closely with the Majority Leader and Speaker to rally bipartisan support on passing legislation critical to moving Connecticut forward.

Napoli was first elected to represent Waterbury's 73rd House District in 2018. He begins his second term today.
