Connecticut's Rental Assistance Program

March 17, 2021

Earlier this week, the Connecticut Department of Housing launched UniteCT, an emergency rental assistance program. UniteCT will provide rental and utility payment assistance to Connecticut households who were  financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

 A renter household must have one or more individuals who satisfy the following criteria in order to qualify for the program:
  • Qualifies for unemployment or has experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or experienced a financial hardship due to COVID-19;
  •  Demonstrates a risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability; and
  • Has a household income at or below 80% of the HUD Area Median Income (AMI)

Landlords are able to apply on behalf of tenants, but they must secure a tenant’s physical or digital signature.

If you have any additional questions, UniteCT can be reached by phone  (1-844-UniteCT (864-8328)) or email (DOH-UniteCT@ct.gov).
