Foster's Update

November 17, 2021

On November 30, I will join Dr. Sandra Chafouleas and Dr. Julian Ford for a discussion on children's mental health. We will focus on a wide range of topics,  such as child trauma and trauma-informed organizations, information on funding for the programs associated in schools, and recommendations for CT policy and programming in the future.

This event will be streamed on my State Facebook page and on Zoom. Click here to register. Hope to see you then!

Anaerobic Digestors For Oakridge Dairy

I am thrilled that I was able to attend the groundbreaking event for Oakridge Dairy's Anaerobic digestor project. These tools will harness methane waste as energy.

Advocating for farm anaerobic  digestors has been one of my legislative priorities -  the first bill I ever introduced on the floor of the House was a piece of legislation that would streamline the permitting for on farm anaerobic  digestors. If you are interested in seeing that testimony, click the link below. Thank you to everyone involved!

Veterans Day Ceremony in Ellington

Last Thursday, I attended the Ellington High School Veterans Day Ceremony. The event did a great job honoring the men and women in our community who have and are currently serving in the armed forces.  It was an honor to spend time with Former State Representative Ted Graziani, who was recently inducted into the Veterans Hall of Fame.

Fall Themed Art contest

Reminder - The  Fall Themed Art Contest is still open! Artists of all ages are encouraged to submit their work by this Thursday November 18. Winners will be given state issued citations and receive recognition.

Ellington residents can submit their art to Diane Lasher-Penti at the Youth Services office (31 Arbor Way). East Windsor residents can drop their work off to either Debra Williams or Samantha Charette at the Parks and Recreation office (26 School Street). Electronica Submissions will also be accepted - please email to Max.DeLorenzo@cga.ct.gov. Please feel free to reach out to my office with any questions. I cannot wait to see what everyone creates!

Housing Heating/Insulation Assistance

Winter is fast approaching, and cold weather typically leads to high heating costs.

One way to combat this issue is to sign up for a home energy efficiency audit. These programs not only save rate payers money in fuel and electricity, but they also are good for the environment because they reduce fuel consumption.

The process is inexpensive, brief, and incredibly beneficial. My household recently had an audit conducted by Homestead Comfort, a local business. I am thrilled that we were able to take advantage of this program and would encourage you to do the same. Click here to learn more about energy efficiency.

Solar Discussion with Earthlight Technologies and USA Hauling

Last week, I joined representatives from Earthlight Technologies, LLC and USA Hauling & Recycling to talk about rooftop solar, renewable refuse programs and more!

East Windsor Senior Coffee Hour

Last week, I was invited to join the  East Windsor Senior Coffee hour. I had a blast and hope to return in the future!
