Chairing a National Tax Meeting
I am excited to be chairing an important meeting of the National Conference of State Legislatures’ (NCSL) Executive Committee Task Force on State and Local Taxation this weekend.
Taxes continue to be a hot-button issue in our state, be they businesses taxes, property taxes or the sales tax. I look forward to meeting with state legislators from around the country to talk about tax policy and learn more about state and local tax issues.
This weekend provides me with a valuable chance to learn from other state legislators and tax experts and bring that knowledge back to the Connecticut General Assembly and more specifically the Commerce Committee in hopes of improving our tax system.
Topics to be discussed at this meeting include:
- Taxation of Digital Goods
- New standards requiring disclosure of government tax incentives
- Effects of state taxation on international investment
- Property taxation of communications infrastructure
