Infusion of State Cash for Stowe, Twain and Knox
Historic Stowe, Twain houses in Hartford get boost from state grants; longtime neighborhood community garden will be preserved
Hartford Courant
HARTFORD — Two of Hartford’s signature historic landmarks — the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center and the Mark Twain House & Museum — plus one of the city’s largest community gardens, cultivated for generations by residents, are getting funding to help ensure their preservation.
The State Bond Commission has approved $750,000 for the projects that will help pay for upgrades and improvements to the Stowe and Twain properties in the city’s West End.
Matt Ritter, a Hartford Democrat and speaker of the House of Representatives, said the funds will support nonprofits that bring positive attention to the city.
