House Majority Leader Joe Aresimowicz (D - Berlin/Southington) has been named a “Children’s Champion” by the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance for making Connecticut’s young children and their families a priority during the 2015 legislative session.

“I am so honored to be acknowledged by the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance for my work on behalf of Connecticut’s children,” said Rep. Aresimowicz. “Early childhood education is crucial to the development and success of our youth and that is why I will continue to make early childhood education a priority issue, both at the Capitol and in our communities.”

Every year, the Alliance recognizes legislators who worked closely with early childhood advocates to shape legislation that impacts the wellbeing of Connecticut’s young children in the areas of healthy development, early care and education, nutrition and safety. This year’s nominees proved they put young children front and center as they shaped legislation and engaged with early childhood advocates to create the most effective early childhood policy for Connecticut.

“Rep. Aresimowicz has proven to be a strong supporter of early childhood and someone early childhood advocates can turn to on important issues,” said Merrill Gay, Executive Director of the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance. “His leadership in the House of Representatives has been critical to ensure that Connecticut proactively tackles the issues facing young children.”

The Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance is a statewide membership and advocacy organization committed to improving developmental outcomes in the areas of learning, health, safety and economic security for children ages birth to eight.

Joe Aresimowicz is serving his sixth term representing the 30th Assembly District of Berlin and Southington in the Connecticut General Assembly, where he is House Majority Leader.
