Election Day Information

November 4, 2022
Last Friday was National First Responders Day, and I want to take a moment to thank all of our first responders - especially those in Derby, Orange, and Woodbridge!

Protecting our first responders remains a priority of mine, which is why this past session, I helped create a loan forgiveness program for law enforcement personnel seeking higher education alongside Senator James Maroney. Additionally I supported laws like:

  • Law enforcement mental health and training
  • Firefighters Cancer Relief Program
  • Additional EMS vehicles
  • Creation of 9-8-8 (Suicide prevention and mental health crisis hotline)
  • Law enforcement addiction recovery project

Connecticut Children's is warning that RSV levels are very high in our area right now - while not usually a serious concern, it can be life threatening for kids and adults, especially:
  • Infants a year or younger
  • Children younger than 2
  • Kids who are immunocompromised or who have existing lung disease, like asthma
  • Older adults, especially those 65 years and older
  • Adults with chronic heart or lung disease
  • Adults with weakened immune systems

RSV and the flu are two different viruses, but often have very similar symptoms. Sometimes, the symptoms are no more severe than that of a common cold. Other times, they can be life threatening.
