Rep. Reyes Reappointed as Deputy Speaker

December 12, 2022

Speaker of the House Matt Ritter has reappointed me has as Deputy Speaker ahead of the 2023 legislative session, which starts in early January.

When the Speaker of the House is absent from the chamber, a Deputy Speaker presides over the House of Representatives.

I am pleased that Speaker Ritter has faith and trust in me to continue serving as Deputy Speaker, which I have done since the 2021 legislative session, and as one of the leaders in the Chamber. I look forward to working closely with the leadership and helping shape the legislative agenda.

I will maintain my committee assignments on the Appropriations, Environment and Transportation Committees for the upcoming session. I am also Co-Chair of the Waterbury Rail Line Caucus and a member of the Manufacturing Caucus. Both caucuses are bipartisan.

Additionally, I completed my two-year term as Chair of the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus (BPRC).

I was immensely honored and proud to serve as BPRC Chair during the last two years and happy to continue serving and working on committees and caucuses focused on my efforts prioritizing and advancing critical issues affecting communities of color the most, and championing legislation that ensures social, economic and environmental justice.
