Minimum Wage Increase
We did it!

The state’s minimum wage will increase from the current rate of $14.00 per hour to $15.00 per hour beginning Thursday, June 1, 2023.

Yesterday, I joined Governor Lamont and Lt. Governor Bysiewicz in reminding residents about the increase.

The change is the result of

legislation that I fought for as the Labor Committee Co-Chair. The legislation schedules several gradual increases in the minimum wage to occur over a five-year period.
  • $11.00 on October 1, 2019;
  • $12.00 on September 1, 2020;
  • $13.00 on August 1, 2021;
  • $14.00 on July 1, 2022; and
  • $15.00 on June 1, 2023.

You can watch the remarks I made at the press conference below.
