Happy New Year!

I hope you had a happy holiday season and that your year is off to a good start. I wanted to let you know about some upcoming events in Stamford that I am hosting or participating in this month.

EDUCATION EVENTS

  • Thursday, January 7: Looking forward to continuing my tour of all of Stamford's schools with a visit to Davenport Ridge Elementary School. Other school visits this month include: Cloonan Middle School on Tuesday, January 12, Stamford High School on Friday, January 15, and Scofield Middle School on Tuesday, January 19.

  • Monday, January 25: Excited to visit Turn of River Middle School again and talk to students in the AVID program.

BUSINESS EVENTS

  • Monday, January 11: I am joining city officials at the Stamford Government Center for a press conference announcing a small business initiative to help small business owners. Stay tuned for more information!

  • Friday, January 29: I am hosting a small business roundtable at Parkway Diner in order to hear from small business owners on the challenges they face and how we can better support businesses at the state level. COMMUNITY EVENTS

  • Friday, January 8: Join me and community leaders for the United Way Stamford Volunteer Award Ceremony, to recognize this year's outstanding volunteers who gave back to our community. Location: Harry Bennett Branch - Ferguson Library, 115 Vine Rd, 8:30 AM.

  • Saturday, January 9: Looking forward to participating in the panel discussion at the Fairfield County Community Foundation's Thrive by 25 Regional Summit with 300 young adults from Fairfield County.   • Monday, January 18: Honored to join community leaders for the Annual Stamford Citywide Martin Luther King Day Community Breakfast, followed by the Annual MLK Praise Rally, Annual MLK March, and Annual MLK Ceremony. For more information, contact the MLK Planning Committee at 203-249-6933.

  • Thursday, January 21: Coffee and Conversation with Caroline - Join me for coffee and conversation at the Little Monkey Cafe, 471 Glenbrook Road, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM. I'd love to hear your feedback and ideas on how we can improve our community. RSVP to me at caroline.simmons@cga.ct.gov.
