Bethel & Danbury Schools Left Hanging by Federal Aid Freeze

March 31, 2025

Dear Neighbors,

The federal government’s decision to freeze $14M in education aid is unacceptable and our kids in Bethel and Danbury will pay the price. Danbury is already facing a substitute teacher crisis and a school budget stretched 21% just to meet basic needs. In Bethel, even after public outcry, we’re still $750K short forcing discussions about cutting specials and music teachers.

Without this support, classrooms will be more crowded, essential programs will be cut, and students who need help the most, those with learning gaps, language barriers, or mental health needs will fall further behind. That’s not just a funding issue, it’s a moral failure. I will continue to fight to make sure our communities aren’t forgotten.
