State Rep. Angel Arce (D-Hartford) welcomed World Boxing Champion Danny “Swift” Garcia and his twin sisters to M.D. Foxx Elementary School for an anti-bullying chat with the students.

The Garcia family has been touring different schools speaking to students about how to stay motivated to make their dreams come true and overcome any obstacles as well as to stand against bullying.

“I am a boxing aficionado and a strong enthusiast of athletes who find time to encourage and inspire young children to pursue their goals,” Rep. Arce said. “When I was approached to join Danny and his sisters on their mission, I knew I wanted to be a part of this special moment.”

Danny “Swift” Garcia is a Puerto Rican WBC Light Welterweight Champion who grew up in Philadelphia. His 12 year old sisters, Sianney and Angelise Garcia travel with him and perform songs as part of their presentation.

Rep. Arce presented the boxer with a CT General Assembly Citation in recognition of his commitment and time volunteering to encourage young children to be successful.

“I commend this young champ for his dedication and willingness to motivate young children,” said Arce. “His message couldn’t be more appropriate as we continue to battle against those who want to steal our kids’ dreams and their sense of security. It was an honor to share the stage with them for this worthy cause at one of our local schools.”
