House Passes Pay Equity

April 12, 2017

I am pleased that equal pay legislation has passed the House, overwhelmingly, and now heads to the Senate. HB 5591 strengthens Connecticut’s pay equity laws, and among things, protects workers from being penalized for taking approved parental leave. On average, unfair pay costs every working woman in Connecticut more than $10,000 every year. This bill is a positive step forward but it will take additional measures to ensure full equality.
