Workers Pregnancy Protection Bill

July 6, 2017

Governor Malloy signed HB 6668, An Act Concerning Women in the Workplace, into law. This bill strengthens current protections for pregnant women under the state’s anti-discrimination law by clarifying the type of accommodations usually required by pregnant, including assistance with manual labor, more frequent or longer breaks, and temporary transfers to less strenuous or less hazardous work. This bill additionally protects women from being discriminated against when pregnant.

This legislation ensures working women are able to grow and thrive – in both their personal and professional lives – by providing them with the resources needed to pursue a career while raising a family.

I was proud to be a co-sponsor of this bill and will continue to champion for women's rights.
