Rep. Vargas Joins Education Signing
State Representative Edwin Vargas (D-Hartford) is pleased that Governor Dannel P. Malloy has signed into law a number of bills related to education that were supported by members of the legislature's Black and Puerto Rican Caucus.
Rep. Vargas joined his legislative colleagues at a recent bill signing ceremony held the Governor's State Capitol office.
The bills supported by the caucus members dealt with students with dyslexia, recommendations of the Achievement Gap Task Force, concern over school suspensions and expulsions, reporting of school based arrests and an act concerning chronic absenteeism.
"I am pleased the Governor has signed these important education bills into law," Rep. Vargas said. "Members of the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus deserve great credit for their work and input on all these education issues."
