Hearing on Resident Trooper Costs

March 9, 2015

But Rep. Joseph Verrengia, D-West Hartford and committee vice chairman, said municipalities that use resident troopers should begin looking for other options if the cost becomes too high. He referenced past efforts by the legislature — some successful and some not — to raise the cost of resident troopers.

“This is an old model,” Verrengia said. “Change is in the air, whether it’s this year, or two, three years down the road — I don’t know. But I think it would behoove these small towns to really take a good look at it and consider what that other model might look like.”
