Breast Cancer Awareness, and more
October 10, 2025Standing with survivors means lifting up their strength and resilience, reminding them they are never alone in their journey. Honoring those we’ve lost keeps their memory alive and fuels our determination to do better for the next generation. And fighting for a cure is the promise that we won’t stop until hope turns into healing for everyone touched by this disease.
Military Suicide Awareness, and more
October 3, 2025I recently had the great opportunity to meet up with Christy Kovel, State Representative Jane Garibay , State Representative Dan Gaiewski friends, neighbors and families to support Alzheimer's walk at Ocean Beach New London, CT.
This year legislators passed an important bill (Connecticut's 2025 Public Act 25-16, also known as HB 6771) to help with Alzheimer's by requiring health insurance coverage for biomarker testing, to improve early diagnosis and access to care for those with Alzheimer's and other neurological conditions, with biomarker coverage.

Potential Access Health CT Changes, and more
September 19, 2025If you're insured through the Access Health CT exchange, you may have recently received a postcard in the mail—and it's worth paying attention to.
People who receive tax credits or subsidies for their affordable health care plans could see those benefits change or even disappear. This small piece of mail could be alerting you to major changes coming to your health insurance costs.
It’s important to review your current plan now because what you’re paying this year might not be the same next year.
Minimum Wage Increase, ALICE Report, and more
September 12, 2025On January 1, 2026, Connecticut’s minimum wage rises to $16.94 an hour — the second-highest in the nation.
We understand this still isn’t a true livable wage for many families. But it’s an important step forward — and it’s more than what most other states provide their workers.
This increase isn’t just dollars and cents. It means a little more help for parents and seniors.
Remembering 9/11, and more
September 5, 2025Next Thursday, we remember the 2,996 lives lost on September 11, 2001, the thousands who have died since due to exposure to toxic chemicals, and the countless lives that were forever changed. May we never forget the people whose lives were stolen from us through this act of terror, and all of the first responders, construction crews, service members, and everyday citizens who saved lives and helped our country rebuild.
Though we move further away from that fateful day each year, we must continue to honor those Americans we lost and never stop the fight against terror and for peace.
Labor Day, and more
August 29, 2025Labor Day is upon us, and it is a time to reflect on the contributions of workers across every industry. Their dedication, resilience, and continued fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, and dignity on the job have shaped our nation and continue to move us forward.
As we celebrate the American labor movement, we honor the hardworking people who have built and strengthened this country.
While we enjoy this well-earned day of rest, let’s also recommit ourselves to advancing policies that uplift working families and ensure every worker is treated with the respect they deserve.
Wishing you and your loved ones a safe, meaningful, and restful Labor Day.
