Upcoming Public Hearings

February 17, 2017

One of my priorities is to always keep you informed about what's happening here at the Capitol. Several of my bills are having a public hearing this week, but there is one bill in particular I would like to highlight.

This bill, HB 5207, An Act Imposing A Surcharge on Certain Personal Risk Insurance Policies to Fund Regional Fire School's Operating Budgets And Certain Firefighter Training, will charge a small surcharge on home insurance policies to fund firefighter training. The alternative to this surcharge would be potential tax increases by municipalities to fund the same training.

The Insurance Committee Public Hearing for this bill will be held Thursday, 2/16, at the LOB 2D at 10 a.m.

If you are unable to attend this public hearing, but still wish for your voice to be heard, email instestimony@cga.ct.gov with your testimony in Word or PDF form.

Other public hearings this week:

Labor and Public Employees, Thursday, 2/16, LOB 2E, 2p.m.
