Invest in Infrastructure

Connecticut needs to invest in its aging and in transportation infrastructure.

TRIP, a national nonprofit transportation research group released their report that examines road and bridge conditions, congestion, economic development, highway safety, and transportation funding in Connecticut.

A generation ago, shortsighted and sporadic decisions were made that grossly underfunded our infrastructure and has crippled our current transportation system. A strong economy is fueled by an efficient transportation system and making that happen needs to remain a priority

According to the TRIP report, 338 of Connecticut’s bridges are structurally deficient. A bridge is structurally deficient if there is significant deterioration of the bridge deck, supports or other major components. In addition, increasing levels of traffic congestion cause significant delays in Connecticut, particularly in its larger urban areas, choking commuting and commerce.
