Paid Family & Medical Leave

Working Together for Progress

No hardworking person in Connecticut should ever have to choose between the health of themselves or a loved one, and the paycheck they need to make ends meet.

According to a 2016 Institute for Women’s Policy Research report, only 13 percent of workers have access to paid family leave through their employers, and fewer than 40 percent have access to personal medical leave through employer-provided short-term disability insurance.

There’s a simple solution: Connecticut needs to pass a law guaranteeing paid family and medical leave when an employee or a family member needs care. They’ve done it in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Connecticut needs to keep pace before we fall further behind.

As Chair of the legislature’s Labor Committee, I am leading the fight to pass paid family and medical leave.

I support Paid Family Leave for all working families in Connecticut:
