This week, I had the privilege to attend the 2024 Southington High School Wall of Honor ceremony and pay tribute to the new class of inductees and their families. The ceremony was beautiful, and I am in awe of the service and accomplishments of this year’s class, which included Valerie DePaolo, Kenneth DiMauro (posthumously inducted), Mark Palmieri, TFC Aaron Pelletier (posthumously inducted) and Norman VanCor.

This week, I attended Southington’s Commission for Persons with Disabilities meeting, at which my good friend, town resident, and President of the Connecticut Association of the Deaf (CAD), Luisa Soboleski, presented to the Commission members, elected officials and a number of residents. Luisa shared her gratitude for and perspective on recent legislation that will provide the Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing community access to a number of resources.

This week, I attended the grand opening of Divine Rose Wellness Center in downtown Southington. At the event I met and congratulated business owner and resident, Ashley Sapphire, toured her facility at 76 N Main Street, and learned about the holistic wellness services her practice provides, which include Reiki, crystal healing, sound and light therapy, and sound bowl healing practices. This week, I was invited to visit Dean’s Stove & Spa in Plantsville where I toured the “front of the house” showrooms and the expansive “back of the house” operation. I met with Sean Michanczyk and his team to learn about emerging products and technologies that are safe, produce low emissions, and offer renewable fuel sources. Mindful of the upcoming winter, I am open to exploring, incentivizing, and promoting all options for alternate energy sources that will cut home heating costs for Connecticut residents.
