It was great to swing by the Southington Farmers Market today on the Town Green and visit with the local vendors and spend some time talking with old friends and making new ones while enjoying the relaxing atmosphere. I can't wait to enjoy the cherries I purchased from Gresczyk Farms.

Thank you to all who attended my recap of the 2024 Legislative Session on Wednesday at Southington Community Cultural Arts (SoCCA). As always, I enjoyed the conversation, answering your questions and hearing your concerns. That makes me feel even more equipped to continuing representing our great town at the Capitol thanks to everything I learn during these events.

Recently I visited DePaolo’s Furniture and offered friend and local business owner, Pamela DePaolo, my gratitude and congratulations for her family’s nearly 100 years of managing Southington’s premier family run furniture store.

This week, the Drive In Community Pavilion was renamed the Joseph J. Laporte Community Pavilion, in admiration of Mr. LaPorte’s enduring impact on our town. His unwavering commitment to youth sports, town parks, and civic engagement has left an indelible mark on the fabric of our community well deserving of this recognition.

This week, I was pleased to welcome State Rep. Jane Garibay, House Chair of the Aging Committee, to the Calendar House where we presented a check for $99,700 to a group of seniors and Southington’s Director of Senior Services, David Lapreay.

This week, I stopped by Southington High School and made a surprise classroom visit during which I presented the Valedictorian, Salutatorian and Essayist with official state citations for their academic achievement. I was joined by Superintendent Steven Madancy, Principal Michael Crocco, Board of Education Chair Colleen Clark, and other school administrators and staff. I was honored and proud to recognize Southington’s top trio for their academic and community accomplishments.

It was an incredible privilege this week to recognize retired Deputy Chief Bill Palmieri as Southington UNICO’s 2024 Gold Medal Award winner.
