Waterbury Helping Hurricane-Impacted Families
I’m so proud of the efforts of the Waterbury community to support our fellow citizens who have arrived here seeking aid from the hurricanes that devastated communities this year. Waterbury has opened its schools to 150 hurricane-affected students so far. We are a welcoming, compassionate community.
Here are some tools on how new students and their families can get help:
- A welcome center has been established at 236 Grand Street, Waterbury, CT, Room 106
- Waterbury’s Hurricane Relief Coordinator is Roxanne Augelli, reachable at Raugelli@waterbury.k12.ct.us
- Adopt-A-Family- Commit to helping a family for three months. Be their guiding hand and human touch, whether they need help finding clothes and food or navigating the job hunting process in a new city. Contact gwright@waterbury.k12.ct.us
