Rep. Sanchez Announces May 4 Town Hall

April 25, 2019

Members of the General Assembly’s Black and Puerto Rican Caucus will hold a town hall Saturday, May 4, in New Britain to discuss residents’ concerns and ideas about issues affecting Black and Latino communities.

“This will be a great chance to hear from our community about specific concerns, including equity in our education system. This is one area that we are working on very diligently in the legislature, because the quality of a child’s education should not depend on the zip code in which they were born,” Rep. Robert Sanchez (D-New Britain, who is the House chair of the General Assembly’s Education Committee.

The town hall will be from 10 a.m. to noon in the first floor community room of the Human Resource Agency at 180 Clinton St.

“We need the direct input of the public so that we can pass legislation and policy initiatives that help our communities across Connecticut,” said Rep. Brandon McGee (D-Hartford), chairman of the caucus.

“The caucus plays a very important role in shaping major policy initiatives, and I am looking forward to advocating and leading legislation that in the long run will benefit all people of Connecticut,” said Rep. Geraldo Reyes, (D-Waterbury) caucus vice chair.
