Honoring MLK's Legacy; New Futsal Team in Danbury

January 16, 2025

My favorite quote from Martin Luther King Jr. is "I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear."

As we approach Martin Luther King Jr. Day, let's take a moment to reflect on the extraordinary legacy of a leader whose vision of justice, equality, and nonviolent resistance transformed our nation and inspired the world. Dr. King's unwavering commitment to civil rights reminds us of the power of courage, compassion, and collective action to create meaningful change.

In Danbury, New Hope Baptist Church, 10 Aaron B Samuels Blvd., is hosting its 20th annual Community Celebration for Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, Jan. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a continental breakfast at 9 a.m.

Together, we can continue to advance the dream Dr. King so eloquently shared - a world where freedom and dignity are the birthright of all people

Spicy Futsal in Danbury
I had a fantastic time at the home opener of our new indoor soccer team, Spice City FC, with my family, the Mayor Roberto Alves and his family, and our colleagues and their families.

The energy in the arena was electric, and Spice City delivered an incredible performance with an 8-2 victory over Baltimore Arsenal!

New Leaders
Congratulations to the newly elected leadership team of the Ecuadorian Civic Center of Greater Danbury!

It is an honor and a source of great pride for me to serve as this year’s Padrino and to witness the incredible impact the Civic Center continues to have on our community.

Wishing Maria Lema (President), Eva Aveiga (Vice President), Gloria Mora (Treasurer), and the entire leadership team much success in their term. May your dedication and vision inspire positive change and strengthen our community even further!
