In a news article written by Paul Bass, the online reporter says that Rep. Sean Scanlon, Sen. Matt Lesser and their legislative colleagues will try to accomplish in only their second year of trying what it took Washington politicians to do over a half-century.
The "it" is the effort to pass health care reform that makes insurance affordable to many more people, especially employees of small businesses and self-employed people.
“It took seven presidents” starting with Harry Truman to pass what eventually became the Affordable Care Act (ACA, aka Obamacare), Scanlon said during an appearance on WNHH FM’s “Dateline New Haven” program, according to Bass. “We tried to do it in one year. Big change takes time,” Scanlon said.
