MONDAY'S POST STORM UPDATE
As of 9 p.m. last evening 28% of CL&P customers still did not have power in Simsbury. CL& P is hoping to get the rest of Simsbury restored today, but I expect there will be pockets still in the dark. In some neighborhoods the destruction is so extensive I can’t see how they’ll fix it quickly.
SCHOOLS
All of the schools in town are without electricity. No decision has been made yet about whether schools will open tomorrow, but there is a good chance there will be school tomorrow so be prepared. The schools superintendent is assessing the safety of walking routes and bus routes and will decide by 2:00 p.m. today if schools will open tomorrow.
SHELTER
The shelter at Simsbury High School is now closed, but the Red Cross has opened a shelter at First Church on the corner of West St. and Route 10.
ELECTION DAY
Tomorrow is Election Day—please vote! There will be only one voting location in Simsbury at the Henry James Middle School. All other polling places will be closed. Folks in town have been great about volunteering to help each other in many ways. Please continue to help your friends and neighbors a little longer. Share your power if you have it and please help your elderly neighbors with clearing debris.
