CHAMBER HEARS ABOUT REDUCING PROPERTY TAXES, ENCOURAGING ECONOMIC GROWTH
This afternoon I addressed the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut trustees at their meeting at Nature's Art Village in Oakdale, a section of Montville. My remarks focused on the ongoing work of the MORE Commission to help towns reduce costs, increase efficiencies, and provide property tax relief. In addition, I talked about the various business incentive programs offered by the state to encourage economic growth and job creation such as Small Business Express and Step-up.

LEGISLATURE TO ESTABLISH FUND FOR SANDY HOOK WORKERS
Speaker Sharkey and other legislative leaders announced the formation of a special fund to assist individuals who suffered psychological trauma as a result of their work related to the Sandy Hook tragedy. The Sandy Hook Workers Assistance Fund will be funded through private donations and provide support to volunteer and professional workers who are suffering from mental health issues as a result of the tragedy.
