HB 5623, a bill that protects victims of domestic violence by prohibiting possession of firearms by anyone who becomes subject to a temporary restraining order upon notice of being served, was approved in Judiciary Committee today.
The legislature is reviewing some common sense gun safety regulations. Police should be able to ask for your gun permit if you are walking in public armed and you should lose your weapons while under a restraining order.
Today, President Obama announced new executive actions to reduce gun violence and make our communities safer. I stand with the President’s balanced approach of increasing mental health care access and working to keep dangerous weapons out of the hands of dangerous people.
