2015 Session Recap with The New Haven Delegation

I joined New Haven Mayor Toni N. Harp and members of the city’s legislative delegation at City Hall to recap and tout a series of legislative victories achieved during the General Assembly’s 2015 legislative session. In 2016 New Haven taxpayers are projected to receive a direct car tax cut of $3.5 million. Legislators successfully tackled Connecticut’s unequal Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) system and as a result it is estimated that New Haven will receive an approximately $15 million in additional reimbursements.

Facing projected deficits over the next two years, the legislature cut over a billion dollars from the current services budget, however, the budget also ensures significant investments in the state’s transportation infrastructure, including improvements to roads, bridges and rail.
