I joined Danbury State Representatives David Arconti and Jan Giegler in announcing the State Bond Commission is expected to approve two grants for projects in Danbury at its meeting Tuesday, July 28. The first is a $1 million grant to assist with the preservation of the historic Richter House in Richter Park. The second is to fund a $250,779 project for renovations to 22 Orchard Street for two neighboring independent nonprofits, Family & Children’s Aid and the Hispanic Center of Greater Danbury.

Lauding School Construction Funding

Rep. Ernie Hewett is pleased that critical funding he championed for the New London magnet schools’ Pathways Project was adopted in HB 7102. The project was overwhelmingly approved by voters in a citywide referendum, but technical language about application deadlines to qualify for state reimbursements threatened its development. Rep. Hewett was successful in securing state funding and revising key provisions to move the project forward.

Attendance in Stamford Public Schools has grown by nearly 5,000 new students in the past fifteen years and more growth is expected in the future. Today, Stamford's delegation to the General Assembly announced that they have secured funding for a critical expansion of the Rogers International Inter-District Magnet School which will help meet the growing demand for classroom space in the city.
