Go CT Card

November 8, 2018

The Legislature is working hard to modernize our public transportation system.  I'm happy to announce the launch of a new fare card option for Connecticut's bus riders that will modernize how individuals access Connecticut's busses.

The new Go CT Card can be used on all CTtransit, CTtransit Express and CTfastrak busses and offers customers the discounts they would receive with a regular fare ticket - the card and funds will not expire.

Go CT Cards will be free until December 31, 2018 and starting January 1, 2019, the fare cards will cost $2.

Those interested in receiving a card can visit the Go CT Card web site, www.goctcard.com, or call 877-255-7433.

Upon receiving the card, riders can add a minimum of $10 and a maximum of $500 in travel fares through the Go CT Card web site, retailers such as CVS Pharmacy and 7-Eleven or one of the CTtransit Customer Service Centers.  The state is also planning to launch a mobile app in 2019 that will allow cardholders to add transit funds and access their account information.  There are no service fees to add transportation fares to the card.

Beginning January 2019, the cards will be available for purchase at CTtransit Customer Service Centers in Hartford, New Haven and Stamford; at the North East Transportation Center in Waterbury; the Meriden Transit District Offices and CVS Pharmacy and 7-Eleven.

Currently the Go CT Card is only available to use on the state’s bus lines, however the State Department of Transportation will make the card available to be used on Connecticut’s rail lines in the future.
