Support Our Food Banks

The holidays are upon us and we look forward to gathering with friends and family. It’s also the time of year to remember the less fortunate and make sure they have access to proper nutrition.

You can help by donating to local food pantries. It’s a great way to ensure they are stocked with healthy foods and have enough on hand to meet demand during the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Suggested donations include:

  • Ground coffee (regular and decaf)
  • Maple syrup
  • Pancake mix
  • Spaghetti sauce
  • Spam
  • Jelly
  • Fluff
  • Corned beef
  • Juice (bottles or cans)
  • Chunky Soups and Stews
  • Hamburger or Chicken Helper
  • Peanut Butter
  • Cereals
  • Soup (low sodium)
  • Canned Fruit
  • Crackers

Food Programs

The Connecticut Food Bank and Foodshare partner with grocery stores, growers, donors and volunteers to source food and distribute it throughout the state. Foodshare serves Hartford and Tolland counties while Connecticut Food Bank helps the other six counties. Both provide help to food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, residential programs and day programs for the benefit of hungry adults and children.
