We Need a Budget, Not Crystal Ball GazingSeptember 15, 2017
A line from the Republican budget:
"Reflect Savings from Updated Evaluation with Modifications to Employee Pensions in 2027"
What they’re saying:
Actions the legislature will take in 2027 will create savings we can use now.
Of course, no one can predict the future. We have no crystal ball that will tell us what the legislature will do in 2027.
But Republicans assume $119 million in these "savings" from 2027 this year and $151 million next year to help balance their budget. That sounds like clairvoyance...a mystic power that no legislator claims to have.
The Republican budget is a public relations ploy, not a budget that adds up.
