Last Friday, I had the distinct privilege of attending the Safer Communities Summit, hosted by Senator Chris Murphy, to celebrate the one year anniversary of the signing of the Safer Communities Act, the first major piece of gun violence prevention legislation in nearly three decades. It was deeply powerful to hear from survivors and victims of gun violence including Nelba Márquez-Greene, Gabby Giffords, and several students who survived Parkland as well as community gun violence.

After countless long nights, passionate debates, and bills passed, the House of Representatives adjourned for the last time this year. Though the session is over, my work is not.
