Governor Activates Severe Cold Weather Protocol
January 17, 2024Governor Lamont has announced that due to a weather forecast indicating that Connecticut will experience a period of extremely cold weather resulting in very low wind chill values over the next several days, he is directing the state’s severe cold weather protocol to go into effect Wednesday afternoon (1/17) and remaining in effect through noon on Monday (1/22).

The goal of the listening session was to learn more about the challenges they have been facing in their field, with an eye toward potential legislation, if warranted. Along with a number of my fellow legislators, including Education Committee House Chair Jeff Currey, we discussed freedom of speech issues, the distinction between voluntary and compulsory reading lists, challenges to books on the shelves, the role of certified media specialists, the licensing of e-books, and other issues that concern libraries.
