“Small businesses are truly the backbone of our state economy. The Connecticut Supplier Connection will help our small businesses grow by giving them the opportunity to trade and partner with large companies. This partnership allows small companies to have access to larger markets and economies of larger scale,” said Rep. Perone, House Chair of the Commerce Committee.
Rep. Perone championed a new initiative to help spur economic growth in Connecticut. This initiative is the Commission on Economic Competitiveness which will analyze the state’s business tax policy climate and develop policies that promote economic growth.
Rep. Perone talked with Cablevision’s Kerry Donovan on Meet the Leaders during Norwalk Day at the State Capitol. Rep. Perone talked about Norwalk’s history as a town filled with community activities and involvement as well as its contributions to the state’s economy.
“As Commerce Chair, I am proud to support innovative centers like Jackson Labs which encourage scientists to come live and work in our state,” said Rep. Perone.
Rep. Perone went to New Orleans to chair a meeting for the National Conference of State Legislatures’ task-force on Federal, State, and local tax policy. The task-force will be listening to testimony and discussing ideas to modernize and simplify our tax code. Particularly as it relates to online commerce.
Programs like Platform to Employment in Bridgeport are a model for this training.
