Today, we passed HB 5003, An Act Concerning Workforce Development and Working Conditions in the State.

As House Chair of the Labor and Public Employees Committee, I am so excited that this bill, with many parts, passed with overwhelming support.

Connecticut’s more than 300 warehouses boosts the state’s economic mobility while also establishing a stable source of employment for thousands of residents, but these warehouse settings often exploit the labor of employees.

Black History Month may be ending, but not before we honor five fabulous legislators from the Connecticut General Assembly who have made their own mark by being the first black female to represent their districts.

The Senate, followed by the House, passed an omnibus bill this week, comprised of legislation introduced last year. You can read more about it HERE.

As House chair of the Labor and Public Employees Committee, I am proud that two bills made it over the finish line that zeroed in on Municipal Pensions and Workers’ Comp, and Warehouse Workers, specifically sections 48 and 50-57, respectively, in SB298.
