A continuing dialogue with Stamford business is so important...I was so pleased to join Sen. Chris Murphy and Mayor David Martin for a conversation with local businesses.

The shovels were out...I was proud to be part of the celebration as we broke ground for the new inter-district magnet school on Strawberry Hill Avenue. The General Assembly committed $67 million to the project during the 2015 legislative session.

Attendance in Stamford Public Schools has grown by nearly 5,000 new students in the past fifteen years and more growth is expected in the future. Today, Stamford’s delegation to the General Assembly announced that they have secured funding for a critical expansion of the Rogers International Inter-District Magnet School which will help meet the growing demand for classroom space in the city.

Rep. Caroline Simmons hailed safety improvements – including the installation of vehicular traffic gates and warning lights – that have been completed at a railroad crossing in the Springdale neighborhood of Stamford where there have been several accidents in recent years involving vehicles striking trains.

Rep. Caroline Simmons and Rep. Sean Scanlon applauded the Finance Committee for passing a bill they jointly introduced which would create a tax credit for any business who hires a recent Connecticut college graduate.

Rep. Caroline Simmons attended a day of firefighter training and is using the experience to highlight a bill that protects firefighters.

Stamford loses out on state education funds because of the cap on the state’s education aid formula. Rep. Simmons testified before the legislature’s budget committee that city students are being shortchanged.
