Where the Increase Comes From Education Funding:
- The largest driver of this increase is additional education funding, including new and expanded grants that support our schools and help reduce pressure on local property taxes.
- Bethel will receive $401,906 in supplemental education funding.
Tribal Revenue Sharing (One-Time):
- Bethel will also receive additional funding from the state’s tribal revenue sharing accounts supported by payments from the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes.
- This is one-time funding that helps provide short-term relief to municipalities.
Direct Investments I Secured for Bethel In addition to municipal aid, I worked to secure $180,000 in direct funding for local organizations, including: * $75,000 for Kind Works (after-school programming) * $75,000 for Friends of Bethel Parks & Recreation (youth programming) * $20,000 for Bethel High School All Sports Booster Club * $10,000 for Bethel Brotherhood in Action These are investments directly in our community supporting our kids, families, and the programs people rely on every day. Building on Progress Last year was about making up ground. This year is about continuing that progress. While some of this year’s increase is more modest and includes one-time funding, it’s a positive step that continues to move Bethel in the right direction. I’ll keep working to make sure Bethel gets its fair share and that we continue moving forward. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
