The Future of CT's Electric Vehical Standards Plan

December 1, 2023
Hey Neighbors!

On Tuesday, November 28, Governor Ned Lamont held a press conference to address his decision to remove the vote on our Electric Vehicle (EV) Transition Plan from the Regulation Review Committee's agenda. He explained what all of us on the Climate Caucus have echoed: this is only a bump in the road towards a cleaner future.

I have proudly served as a leader in the Climate Caucus. We have held multiple meetings with the caucus members, advocates for clean air, and the Governor himself over the last few weeks. We are all in agreement that ensuring a smart, common-sense policy that is inclusive of affordability and equity must be a priority. And in that endeavor, I look forward to using my leadership role as the vice chair of the Transportation Committee to make safer and more affordable measures a part of our electric vehicle plan. We are focused on collaborating with important stakeholders like EV manufacturers, local businesses, municipalities, and residents to ensure infrastructure necessary to support this transition, such as charging stations, is widely available. While Connecticut is not likely to dictate the EV market, the actions we take now will better prepare our communities for the inevitable transition to alternative sources of energy.

I am committed to delivering the residents of CT clean air legislation that focuses on our health and safety, in a manner that is affordable and achievable.

On another note, I am excited to report that several organizations in Ridgefield have received supporting arts grants from the state. One of the greatest draws to our community is our variety of vibrant arts and the cultural opportunities and programs. It’s wonderful to see these organizations being supported.

Hope to see you on Main Street this weekend for our annual Holiday Stroll! As always feel free to reach out if I can assist you in any way!

Best,

Aimee

Supporting Art Grants for Ridgefield

Several organizations in Ridgefield have received supporting arts grants from the state. The supporting arts program provides general operating support to help Connecticut’s arts organizations and municipal arts departments cover programmatic costs associated with their mission-related work. This type of grant is flexible and gives the grantee the ability to use the funds where they are most needed.

The Ridgefield organizations which have been awarded grants are:

  • ACT (A Contemporary Theatre) of CT
  • Camerata d'Amici
  • The Ridgefield Chorale
  • Ridgefield Guild of Artists
  • Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra, Inc.
  • Ridgefield Workshop For The Performing Arts
  • Thrown Stone Theatre Company
  • Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra Inc.
  • The Ridgefield Playhouse for Movies and the Performing Arts

This is a great opportunity for our local arts. Ridgefield should be proud of our local culture!

Scam Warning for Seniors

⚠️ Heads up! These scam calls, typically targeting seniors, seem to be popping up again. Help me spread the word with these reminders:
🚩 If you have to pay money to get money - it is a scam!
🚩 If it is too good to be true - reach out to a trusted source before acting.
🚩 You always have time to verify - do not let them take that away from you.
🚩 If they insist that you need to pay now, end the conversation.  It is ok to hang up.
