The 2023 legislative session gaveled out at midnight on Wednesday. I am proud of all of the legislation that my colleagues and I were able to craft, debate and pass during our time in Hartford. Below are a few bills that passed over the past few days:

After months of negotiations, the House of Representatives delivered a state budget that includes the largest income tax cut in the state’s history and significant increases in funding for local schools, also known as Education Cost Sharing (ECS) funds.

The Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) unanimously voted to begin a search for consultants to monitor the performance of the state's two electric distribution companies - Eversource and United Illuminating. This is an important step toward eventually shifting to performance-based regulation for the companies.

Last Friday, I teamed up with Karen Thomas, the Executive Director of Friendly Hands Food Bank and other leaders to celebrate the first annual CT Food Insecurity Day. We brought awareness to the plight of food insecurity in the state and highlighted the importance of food banks/ pantries.
