Dear neighbor,

I did a round of interviews Wednesday regarding Ranked Choice Voting, which I have been in favor of since I got elected in 2016 when it comes to presidential and municipal primaries.

Ranked Choice Voting, also known as RCV, essentially allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference (first choice, second, third, etc.). If one candidate has more than half of the first-place votes, the election is finished and that candidate wins. If not, the candidate with the least votes is eliminated and that candidate's voters are moved to their second choice - and that process continues until a candidate gets majority support.

Please read more of my thoughts on Ranked Choice Voting here at

CT NewsJunkie, at public radio station WSHU and here, at CT Insider.

FairVote

Though the issue has its share of skeptics, I am in full support of this method and intend to address it during the upcoming session - beginning February 7th - in hopes of passing legislation to at least gather a task force to take a closer look at RCV.

As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns at Josh.Elliott@cga.ct.gov or 860-240-8585.

Sincerely,

Josh Elliott
